Board Notes from the GDOT Input Meeting May 5, 2026
On Tuesday, May 5th the HOA Board was invited to an input meeting by GDOT to discuss the widening of SR154 from US29 to SR54.
The justification for the project is to
- Increase capacity
- Reduce crashes
- Improve mobility
- Reduce congestion
This project is in the beginning stages — the plan is to widen SR154 to four lanes (2 northbound and 2 southbound lanes) with a 20ft raised median between the lanes. Also included is a 16ft edge (to possibly include a sidewalk) each side of the road requiring 100ft width total for the new road. Turn lanes would be incorporated into the medians as necessary.
At the meeting we were asked for our concerns as an HOA. We discussed turning into and out of the subdivision, traffic congestion and the possibility of sidewalks to Thomas Crossroads. Stop lights are being discussed as well as roundabouts.
Draft Project Schedule
- 12/2026 — Concept for widening approval
- 02/2028 — Preliminary field plan review
- 05/2028 — Right of way authorizations complete
- 06/2030 — Final plan review
- 05/2031 — Construction to begin
